Elizabeth Arthur DVM DACVS-SA

Surgeon

Dr. Elizabeth Arthur is a board-certified small animal surgeon in Maryland. She travels to veterinary practices in the greater Frederick, Baltimore, and Montgomery County areas to perform specialty surgeries. Dr. Arthur grew up in Missouri and attended the University of Missouri for both undergraduate and veterinary degrees. Go Mizzou!

Dr. Arthur completed a one year rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center (link to amcny.org) in New York, followed by a surgical specialty internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Surgery (link to gcvs.com) in Houston. The Animal Medical Center is the world’s largest nonprofit animal hospital, and its prestigious internship program has been educating veterinary leaders since 1964. Dr. Arthur’s residency in small animal surgery was done with Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists (link to cvssvets.com) here in Maryland.

Dr. Arthur performs orthopedic surgery including TPLOs for cruciate ligament injuries, as well as soft tissue surgery. She has a special interest in helping our snub-nosed brachycephalic friends like Frenchies, Pugs, and English Bulldogs breathe more comfortably and live more active lives.

Outside the OR, Dr. Arthur loves hiking and running and can often be found on the trails with her husband Jeff and dog Della. They’re proud members of the Frederick Steeplechasers (link to steeplechasers.org), surely the best running club ever. She also has three horses, Amity, Bijoux, and Amity’s daughter Annie.

Emily PacAuliffe

Surgical Team

Emily PacAuliffe has worked in the veterinary field since 2017 and now is in school to become a registered technician. Her whole childhood was filled with bringing home any and every stray she found. Some of her favorite memories growing up revolve around helping animals, finding many injured birds and bringing them home to nurse back to health. She was finally allowed to get a dog at age 11, and Shockey was the most perfect boy and her heart animal for the next 13 years.

Emily always knew she wanted to be surrounded by animals, and that’s how she ended up with her first veterinary job. She was also always had a passion for surgery and even considered becoming a human surgical technician before realizing that of course she needed a career helping animals.

Emily has a wonderful wife Sabrina and seven perfect fur babies: two dogs, Manny & Duckie, and five cats, Roni, Rune, Sushi, Brewer, and Porter. And we can’t forget her two non-furry babies, hermit crabs Narwhal and Killer (as in whales).

Outside of work and school, Emily loves to spend as much time as she can with her little family. She can’t help but love every animal she meets, and she is beyond excited to help care for your fur baby.

Della

Supervisor

Della is Dr. Arthur’s dog and Mobile Veterinary Surgery’s goodwill ambassador. Della makes friends wherever she goes, and her absence from any occasion often elicits something like, “it’s nice to see you, but I was hoping Della would be here.” She’s originally from South Carolina but stayed with SPCA Westchester for many months before her Gotcha Day in December 2015. So much gratitude to SPCA Westchester!

Della is a Carolina Dog, and she exemplifies their typical intelligence, loyalty, athleticism, and love for children. She’s an accomplished outdoors dog and has logged many trail miles and navigated lots of rugged terrain. Although she’s slowing down as the years add up, she still loves being on trails, reminding us why we perform so many TPLOs. Dr. Arthur did her right TPLO in 2017 and left TPLO in 2018.

Of course Della has social media: see some of her adventures at @della.Iwasjust on Instagram.
