Professionalism & Expertise
Mobile Veterinary Surgery provides specialty surgical care, including TPLOs and both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery with a special interest in airway procedures, for dogs and cats in Maryland. MVS works with veterinary practices in the greater Frederick, Baltimore, and Montgomery County areas of Maryland and visits Hampstead Veterinary Center weekly. Pets from hospitals MVS does not currently work with are welcome to schedule at Hampstead Veterinary Center.
Our many years of providing concierge surgical care reflect thousands of surgeries performed and skill that comes with experience. We are committed to excellence in the operating room and in all aspects of patient care.
A Friendly Reminder:
MVS focuses exclusively on specialty surgical care. We do not provide house calls, emergency services, or in-home euthanasia.

TPLO
TPLO
Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) injuries happen frequently in dogs of nearly all sizes and types. The TPLO is consistently the surgery we perform most often, since it is typically the procedure of choice for CCL injuries. TPLO surgery allows most dogs to return to their pre-injury level of activity.
Respiratory Surgery
TPLO
Airway surgery is an area of particular interest for the Mobile Veterinary Surgery team. These procedures include both nares and soft palate surgery to help pets with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) (link to Brachycephalic PDF) and laryngeal arytenoidization (“tieback surgery”) to address laryngeal paralysis. It is so rewarding to help our patients breathe more comfortably.
Orthopedic Surgery
TPLO
MVS offers a wide array of orthopedic surgical procedures, including Medial Patella Luxation (MPL) correction, Femoral Head & Neck Ostectomy (FHO), subtotal coronoidectomy for Medial Coronoid Disease (FCP, FMCP) (link to FCP PDF), and fracture stabilization.
Soft Tissue Surgery
TPLO
Soft tissue surgery includes surgery involving the head and neck, chest, abdomen, and tail end. Removal of masses or tumors, cholecystectomy to treat diseased gallbladders, urethrostomy to address urinary blockage, and removal of anal sacs or masses in the perineal region are some of the soft tissue procedures performed by MVS.
Warmth & Compassion
Partnering with family veterinarians means that pets and their families are in a comfortable, familiar setting throughout the process, easing the worry of surgery day for both pets and people. With this team approach, preoperative diagnostics, surgery, and postoperative care are all done in the general practice, combining the expertise of surgical specialty care with the reassurance and convenience of a chosen primary care veterinary practice.
Dr. Arthur’s dog Della, seen supervising at Hampstead Veterinary Center (link hampsteadvetcenter.com), has had two TPLOs with Dr. Arthur as well as several other anesthetized procedures at our partner practices. The practices we work with complement our values and care standards, which lets all of our special patients receive the specialty care they deserve.
